We Need a Better (or actual) Conversation

“When you label me you negate me.” – Kierkegaard

If you disagree with governmental authority, you hate the government.

If you agree with governmental authority, you hate freedom.

If you don’t believe we have a right to police the world, you hate the troops.

If you think that the Senate had constitutional authority to resist a sitting Present’s appointment, you are an ignorant buffoon.

If you believe that state-nullification is the best way to stop the overreach of the NSA, you are a neo-confederate who is probably a racist.

If you vote for Bernie Sanders, you must be an entitled idiot.

If you vote for Donal Trump, you must hate Muslims and poor people.

If you disagree with governmental authority, you hate the government.

If you support anarcho-capitalism, you must be a greedy, chaos-loving moron.

If you support marxism, you must hate entrepreneurship.

If you believe that gays should be able to get legally married, you must hate the bible.

If you think that the State doesn’t have the right to re-define marriage, you must hate gay people.

If you stand up for the rights of the unborn, you must hate women and be a soldier of the Republican party.

If you believe that struggling women should have access to free healthcare, you must support the endless cycle of poverty and death within minority communities.

If you are a feminist, you must not understand proper roles and functions of society and relationships.

If you aren’t a feminist, you must not believe women are equal in society.

If you believe that evolutionary theory doesn’t conflict with Scripture, you must not believe that the Bible is the word of God.

If you believe in intelligent design, you must hate science and homeschool your kids.

If you homeschool your kids, you must be a separatist who is simply biding time until the rapture happens.

If you send your kids to public school, you must want them to be good lemmings for the State who are unable to think for themselves.

If you study philosophy, you are inches away from losing your faith.

If you don’t study philosophy, you must have a contempt for learning.

If you ask questions of your supervisor, you are insubordinate and most likely grew up without a stable home life.

If you vote republican, you hate our country and love propping up big corporations, as well as military programs.

If you think the Bible is sacred, you are a fundamentalist who doesn’t understand social-conflict theory nor the scientific universe.

If you don’t think the Bible is innerant, you are an immoral secularist-diest who is going to hell.

If you ask questions of your supervisor, you are insubordinate and most likely grew up without a stable home life.

If you don’t ask too many questions of your supervisor, you love abusive structures.

Honestly folks, we need to have a better conversation. Join me in naming the lies we make up about one another so we can move forward. The comment box is below.

    1. That one is especially nasty. I don’t remember any of America’s founders placing their hands over their heart and reciting a nationalistic liturgy..

      Thanks Luke!
